Something Blue

Traditionally, something blue stands for purity, love and fidelity, and it is considered lucky for a bride to wear a small charm or piece of jewellery featuring a blue stone on her wedding day. At The Jewel Hut, we have many wonderful pieces of jewellery featuring something blue, whether you’re looking for a precious gemstone, a symbolic crystal or a fashionable synthetic stone, we have something blue for every bride no matter her style.

Horseshoes

Horseshoes have long been regarded as good luck symbols, particularly at weddings. Historians are not 100% certain as to why they are given at weddings, but they do believe that the ‘U’ shape stems back to pagan times. Back then, the ‘U’ shape was said to represent fertility, and to be presented with this symbol on your wedding day by a child was said to be a good omen that children would soon follow in the marriage.

Hamsa Hand

The hand of Fatima or Hamsa hand, as it is more commonly known, is a universal and spiritual symbol that is said to represent the "Hand of God". It is also believed that if one wears the Hamsa Hand it will bring great happiness, health and good fortune. So, in light of this beautiful symbol, we’ve managed to source the perfect items for the bride - or groom for that matter - to wear on their wedding day; these pieces are perfect to go alongside your outfit for your special day. They are great because they can be subtly hidden underneath clothing and have a string of good luck attached that goes unnoticed. Here are a few of our favourites.

Claddagh

The Claddagh is a traditional Irish symbol that is used on wedding rings to represent love, loyalty and friendship and is depicted by two hands holding a heart that is crowned. Now, some of you may be getting married with one of these rings, however, for those of you who still want to wear the Claddagh symbol but do not wish to wear a ring, we have some wonderful pieces from the House of Lor. These designs use the Claddagh in wonderful necklace and earring form. They also use real Irish rose gold for the heart.

Clover

The four-leaf clover became a symbol of luck in Ireland hundreds of years ago. The four leaves of the clover represent faith, love, success and hope. The Celtic priests believed that by carrying a four-leaf clover or a shamrock they could see any evil spirits coming their way and it would allow them time to escape. Now the four-leaf clover is seen to offer magical protection, this being why it is worn as a lucky charm.
