It’s a well-known fact that sterling silver will tarnish over time. Tarnishing (or oxidisation) occurs when sterling silver is exposed to perfume, sulphur, salt air, hairspray, skin creams, chlorine, and even acidic skin ph. The amount of tarnishing that occurs and how quickly it happens is down to the wearer and how you look after your Pandora jewellery. Therefore, please note that tarnishing is not a manufacturing fault.
We recommend that you take care of your Pandora jewellery all of the time, even when you are not wearing it. For example, keep your Pandora jewellery inside a jewellery box. Never wear your jewellery when you go swimming. Make sure you remove your jewellery before you go to bed, do sporting activities or when you’re in the bath. All of these things will make your jewellery tarnish faster.
We also recommend that you do not wear counterfeit or other branded charms on your Pandora bracelet. The unique threading system inside each Pandora charm is designed to fit on and thread past the threaded nodes on the Pandora moments bracelet, any other branded charms may not fit correctly or damage the threading system.
How To Clean Your Pandora Jewellery
We recommend that you clean your Pandora jewellery regularly using a polishing cloth. This will help minimise the natural tarnishing process. Alternatively, you can use lukewarm soapy water and a soft brush to clean away the effects of oxidisation, but make sure you don't submerge your bracelet into the water. We do not recommend that you use silver polish or silver dip, as it may destroy the delicate oxidised details of our jewellery. And, please do not use any harsh chemicals such as bleach, ammonia, chlorine or salt water.
If you are worried about finding the right polishing cloth, you can always purchase one of our Pandora approved polishing cloths.
