Australian sculptor Robert Owen has partnered with Swarovski for his mesmerising Hamer Hall installation in the Art Centre.
Owen’s signature manipulation of geometry, light and space has resulted in a dramatic new artwork for the concert hall; now a permanent exhibition.
The piece, called Silence, is suspended at different heights above the entrance foyer, made up of seven stainless steel sculptures of varying scale with sparkling Swarovski Elements. It serves to provide a link between the visual and performing arts, adding to the space’s theatricality.
The artwork boasts an impressive quantity of crystals – 62,000 Swarovski Elements in a mix of round, fancy and flat back shapes were used, along with the innovative Crystal Rocks and Crystal Gloss.
